Alexis Goldstein is an activist, programmer, teacher, artist, and occupier.She is a teacher for Girl Develop It, a group that conducts low-cost programming classes where women can learn in a non-intimidating environment.
Alexis is a member of the Foreclose the Banks OWS campaign. Over the summer, the group conducted a series of actions aimed at bringing accountability to Wall Street, including an action at Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's office, asking how we could help the Financial Fraud Task Force and bring accountability to those responsible for the economic crisis.
Before Alexis Occupied Wall Street, Wall Street occupied Alexis. She spent seven years working in technology on Wall Street. She worked in both the cash equity and equity derivatives spaces. Her focus ranged from the development of client-facing, realtime cash trading systems to creating proprietary software for equity option pricing and volatility surface modeling.
Though no longer currently active with the group, Alexis was a co-author of Occupy the SEC's 325-page comment letter to the financial regulators urging them towards a strong Volcker Rule.
Alexis is the founder of aut faciam, a technical training company. She co-authored the book HTML5 & CSS3 for The Real World by Sitepoint, and is working on a new book, Learning CSS3 Animations, due out in Summer 2012
